The United Committee of Manipur(UCM) on Wednesday took strong exception to the Senapati Declaration, signed by 47 Naga candidates, and accused the United Naga Council(UNC) of forcibly thrusting its will on the people the state's of hill areas. In a statement in Imphal, the UCM alleged that the UNC was acting at the behest of the NSCN (IM) and was working against the interests of the people of the state.
The signing of the Senapati Declaration by 47 Naga candidates was actually aimed at creating a chasm between the people of the hills and the plains, it said and added that the pact was nothing but a move against the entire people of the state.

The UCM urged the government to ban the UNC and alleged that was turning a blind eye to its development.
The UCM accused the UNC of 'coercing' the naga candidates to sign the pact, and dubbed as unfortunate the comment that they would take part in the balkanisation of Manipur.
Meanwhile, a seven-member UCM delegation left for Delhi to apprise Prime Minister of the latest development. Bureau Report
