Imphal, Feb 06: The new session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly will begin from today with an address by Governor Arvind Dave. Apart from introducing some government bills, sources said the session was likely to be stormy as opposition Democratic People's Alliance (DPA) would raise issues concerning deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
The failure of the government to arrest or identify killer of eight-year old Lungnila Elizabeth, daughter of state General Administration Minister Francis Ngajokpa and subsequent disclosures of identity of killers by separatist United National Liberation Front (UNLF) last week would also dominate the session, sources said.
The session, which was earlier scheduled to begin from December 28 last, had been postponed due to differences of opinion among leaders of Congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) ministry, SPF sources said. Bureau Report
