Gopeshwar, June 06: Seven pilgrims, including two women were killed when the jeep in which they were returning from Badrinath shrine fell into a deep gorge in Chamoli district of Uttaranchal today, police said. The accident occurred when the vehicle skidded off the Badrinath-Rishikesh national highway near Pipalkoti and fell into the khud, they said adding the driver of the jeep was also among those killed.

The identity of the pilgrims was not immediately known. Search operations were on to recover the bodies, police added.
