Islamabad, Oct 24: Amid reports of differences in its ranks over power sharing arrangement in a province where it secured majority in October 10 polls, an alliance of six Islamic parties today hardened stand against the Musharraf government, accusing it of "deliberately" delaying the summoning of National and Provincial assemblies' sessions.
Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, Chairman of the alliance -- Muttahida Majlis-e Amal (MMA -- said "the MMA is not responsible for the delay." "The alliance has expressed concern over the tactics to delay the convening of the National and Provincial assemblies' sessions," he told reporters here after a meeting of the MMA Supreme Council.

Noorani also demanded that the government notify the schedule of the Senate elections to be held on Nov 12.
He said there was no justification in delaying the names of the successful candidates of National and Provincial assemblies by the government. He said the efforts were on to form a government at the centre but the MMA was firmly opposed to the constitutional amendments brought in President Pervez Musharraf.
"No individual is authorised to amend the constitution. Only Parliament has the right", he said. Replying to a question about differences in MMA ranks over the nomination of Chief Minister of North West Frontier Province where the alliance has won majority of seats, Noorani said the local MMA unit has sent its recommendations and a decision would be taken by him on the issue.
