Coimbatore, July 23: A seven-member gang, allegedly involved in abduction and extortion, have been arrested and a rifle, a car and some knives recovered from them. The gang, which was arrested last evening, reportedly used to threaten people to part with their money and had even abducted some persons for ransom, police said today.
They had held a person from Sathyamangalam captive and released him after taking ransom, police said. The gang was arrested after a complaint from a food vendor in the city, who was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by them on Monday night.
All the accused were produced before a judicial magistrate's court and remanded for 15 days, they said. Bureau Report
