Chandigarh, Feb 17: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a plea by the estranged daughter-in-law of Haryana opposition leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, seeking cancellation of the stay on his and some family members' arrest in a dowry harassment case. Dr Geeta Grewal, a resident of Panchkula near here, had sought cancellation of bail granted to Hooda, leader of the Congress legislature party, by the Panchkula Additional Judge on January 22. The stay granted by the Panchkula court was also upheld by the Ambala District and Sessions Court, where the case had been transferred at the request of Grewal. She is the daughter of a senior officer in the Haryana government. Grewal had alleged in her FIR with the Haryana Police, that since her marriage to Deepender Hooda, the US-based son of the Hoodas, more than two years ago, she was constantly subjected to harassment over dowry.
