Anderson out of Bangladesh Tests
London, Sept 26: James Anderson had been withdrawn from England`s Test series in Bangladesh to rest a knee injury.
London, Sept 26: James Anderson had been withdrawn from England's Test series in Bangladesh to rest a knee injury.
But the pace bowler will be available for the one-day series in Bangladesh and the whole of the tour to Sri Lanka.
Anderson has an overuse injury in his left knee, which ECB medical officer Peter Gregory hopes will be cured by rest and physiotherapy.
Anderson will undergo a fitness programme and spend time at the ECB National Academy in Loughborough.
"Losing James for the Bangladesh Tests is a blow but he is a young bowler who has borne a heavy workload this summer," said chairman of selectors David Graveney.
"Having consulted the medical team we feel that this decision is in his best long-term interests," he added.
The England selectors will announce a replacement for Anderson next week, with Sussex's James Kirtley and Kabir Ali of Worcestershire favourites.
The England squad will leave for Dhaka on 7 October.
