Mumbai, Dec 06: Demanding reconstruction of Babri Mosque at its original site, the Raza Academy today urged Maharashtra Governor Mohhamad Fazal to direct the state government to forthwith implement the Sri Krishna Commission findings of 1992-1993 communal riots that rocked the city. On the occasion of the eleventh anniversary of the demolition of the Babri mosque, general secretary of Raza Academy Mohammed Saeed Noori submitted a memorandum to the Governor making this demand.
He also expressed concern over the spate of riots taking place in the state and the indiscriminate arrests of persons from the minority community.
Noori requested the governor to take serious note of the situation in the state and make efforts to stop the arrest of innocent Muslims.
Alleging that the government headed by the former Prime Minister Narsimha Rao was also hand in glove with the BJP for demolishing the mosque, he demanded action against the then Union Cabinet.
The Raza Academy also released black balloons in the air from various places at 15:45 hours, the time of demolition of last dome of the mosque.
Noori said black balloons were released to protest the Central government's failure in safeguarding the structure and repeated attacks of the VHP, BJP and Bajrang Dal over the mosque site in Ayodhya.
The academy held prayer meetings for those killed in the aftermath of the demolition and organised `Azaan' at Khatri mosque in Pydhonie, Minara mosque on Mohammed Ali Road, Nawab mosque in Mandvi and Bhendi bazaar junction.
