Srinagar, Oct 19: In the first step towards revamping the National Conference in the wake of its defeat in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, party president Omar Abdullah today dissolved its block bodies, youth committees and women wings in the Kashmir valley. The rural district body of Ganderbal assembly constituency, from where Omar lost to PDP's Qazi Mohammed Afzal, was also dissolved, a National Conference spokesman said here.
The operational responsibilities would be transferred to Srinagar disrtict unit these bodies were re-constituted, he said, adding the party's Srinagar district president would hold temporary charge of the rural district Ganderbal and all block bodies till further notice.
The spokesman said the move was initiated to breathe new life into the organisation.
