Mumbai, May 04: A total of 100 out of the 185 unionised Air India pilots belonging to derecognised Indian Pilots Guild have signed an undertaking "unconditionally" to resume flying duties and have since been roastered for flights beginning tomorrow. Air India sources today said, 85 other pilots, who had signed the undertaking reportedly under protest at the end of the 5 pm deadline set by the management yesterday, would not be assigned flying duties as of now.
15 others including the office bearers and managing commitee members of IPG are yet to sign the undertaking, the sources added.
According to officials, AI is to resume normal flight schedule by mid-week even as an enquiry officer would initiate enquiries against the first set of pilots who have been chargesheeted for refusing to fly and abandoning of flights at various destinations.

AI had last week suspended 46 pilots, including the president and general secretary of IPG and issued chargesheets.

The Mumbai High Court had on Friday allowed 24 suspended pilots to resume duty, depending on the exigencies of work and had asked them to individually explain reasons for not operating flights.
