Jakarta, Aug 10: A taxi driver died in hospital today after being severely burned in last week's bombing of the JW Marriott hotel in Indonesia's capital, a hospital employee said, taking the death toll from the blast to 11.
Edi Heryanto died at the state Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital around 10:00 am local time today, a worker at the hospital morgue told reporters after receiving the body from the emergency ward. Heryanto suffered severe burns across his entire body in Tuesday's car bombing in Jakarta, which has been blamed on the Jemaah Islamiyah extremist network.
The bomb exploded in the driveway in front of the lobby entrance of the US-run hotel and most of its victims were security guards and taxi drivers.
Before today's death, police said 10 people were killed in the blast and 149 others were injured.
