Guntur, Oct 15: Within hours of a landmine blast triggered by the outlawed PWG naxals, killing five policemen, an ex-sarpanch of Adigoppala village in the district was shot dead by the PWG ultras in the wee hours today, police said here. Ten armed naxals stormed the house of Ch Kotaiah (45) at his village Adigoppala, dragged him out and shot him dead, they said.
Claiming that Kotaiah was a police spy, the ultras alleged that he was harassing the poor and was despotic. The naxals shouted slogans - PWG zindabad - while retreating, police added.
Five policemen, including an inspector, were killed when a jeep in which they were travelling was blown up by the PWG naxals by triggering a landmine blast near Vemavaram village in the district last evening.
Earlier, four policemen engaged in naxal combing operation were killed when the PWG triggered land mines on July 23, 2002. Bureau Report
