Pennant, of Greener Court, Enfield, will appear on bail before Horseferry Road Magistrates Court on 20 February.
The midfielder is on loan from Arsenal, who signed him for £2m in 1999 from Notts County, making him one of the most expensive teenagers ever sold.
He has put in some promising performances for Leeds, who are currently fighting relegation as well as trying to find a buyer so they can stay out of administration.
