New Delhi, Mar 24: Outraged at the Pulwama massacre, Kashmiri Pandits staged a demonstration here today against the state government's "healing touch" policy and the Centre's "silence" as also against Pakistan and asked all the remaining members of the community to leave the valley immediately. The Mufti government's initiative to take some sections of the displaced population back to the valley was the focus of attack at the demonstration, with protesters asserting that the massacre had "exposed the hollow" claims of the return of peace to the state.
Major organisations of the community, which organised the rally jointly, demanded that all the remaining Pandits in Kashmir be immediately shifted to safer places in the country.
"A situation has reached when a mighty nation like India is waiting impotently for the next strike," said activists of Panun Kashmir, Kashmiri Pandits United Forum (KPUF), Kashmiri Samiti, All India Kashmiri Samaj and All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference.
Maintaining that displaced people were "ready and eager" to return to their motherland, Samiti president Sunil Shakdher said "but there can be no dignified return before dignified talks."
"We strongly oppose the designs of Mufti Sayeed who wants to condemn Kashmiri Pandits to a ghetto life," said KPUF chief B L Khachroo referring to the state government's move to resettle some displaced people at two places in the valley.
Panun Kashmir spokesman Ramesh Manvati said the massacre was "the result of the state government's healing touch policy which has emboldened the terrorists." Bureau Report
