New Delhi, Nov 17: Congress President Sonia Gandhi will launch party's campaign for the December one assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chattisgarh and Delhi from Aizawl (Mizoram) today.
Party spokesman Anand Sharma told reporters here that her detailed programmes were still being finalised but "she will address her first meeting in Aizawl (Mizoram) on November 17."
She would have election meetings in Chattisgarh the following day (November 18), he said. A number of senior party leaders, including Chief Ministers of the Congress-ruled states, would also campaign for the party in the five states, Sharma said.
The party has already appointed observers for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and they were addressed by Gandhi here, he said.
Sharma said observers for these states had been chosen from Northern states including Punjab, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.

There would be one observer for every four constitutencies in MP and one one observer for every three seats in Rajasthan, he said.

Replying to a question, he said election manifestos for the five states were being given final touches and these would come out by November 17, he said.

Asked whether Priyanka Gandhi would join the campaign, Sharma said it was up to her and Sonia Gandhi to take a decision.
