Washington, July 20: US State department has warned Americans to beware terror attacks in Pakistan, after four men were convicted of kidnapping and killing US journalist Daniel Pearl.
After the convicted men warned of harsh reprisals following the verdict, the department yesterday reiterated its warning to Americans to defer travel to Pakistan, or to leave if they are already there.
British born militant Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh was sentenced to death on Monday after being found guilty of the Wall Street journal correspondent's murder.
Three other Islamic militants were convicted of abetting him and given life sentences.

"While we have no specific information concerning possible retaliation by sympathisers, the potential exists for such action against US citizens and interests," the departmental travel warning said.

"The possibility of other threats to Americans and other civilian targets continues," the warning added, once again voicing fears that as security is improved at us installations in the country, so-called "soft targets" like schools, places of worships and clubs could become terrorist targets.
