Triumphs for Boca Juniors, River Plate in Argentine League

Buenos Aires, Oct 28: Boca beat Estudiantes and River win against Gimnasia in Argentine League.
Boca Juniors extended their lead in the Argentine championship on Sunday (October 26) and had Estudiantes goalkeeper Juan Carlos Docabo to thank for the second goal in their 2-0 win.
Boca took the lead on 36 minutes when Matias Donnet's free-kick flew beyond the despairing dive of Docabo. But the second goal came gift-wrapped four minutes later when Docabo received a back-pass from Roberto Trotta and tried to dribble the ball past Carlos Tevez. The Boca player intercepted and gratefully accepted the scoring opportunity although television replays suggested the ball might have gone out of play.
River Plate overcame Gimnasia-La Plata 2-0 but the "Millionaires" are not within striking distance of rivals Boca. Maximiliano Lopez put River in the lead with a header after nine minutes. But the visitors had to wait until nine minutes from the end to seal the victory with a fine individual effort from substitute Fernando Cavenaghi.
