Calgary, May 05: For Detroit it was a second consecutive early playoff exit. The Red Wings lost in the first round last year as a second seed and as the top seed this year were expecting a much longer playoff run. Curtis Joseph did all he could in the Detroit net, stopping 43 shots, but he had no chance on the last one. Jarome Iginla started the play on the winning goal, firing a shot from the left circle. Joseph made the save, but Craig Conroy got to the rebound first at the left side of the crease and swept another shot at Joseph. The puck went off the netminder directly to the right side of the crease for an unchecked Gelinas, who had a wide open cage and made no mistake by slamming it home for his fifth playoff goal. Gelinas scored three goals in this series and also won Game 7 of the first round series against Vancouver with an overtime goal.
