Amritsar, Feb 23: SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar today lashed out at VHP leader Parveen Togadia, who he said had been constantly attempting to snub and relegate minorities by calling India a "Hindu Rashtra", exclusively meant for Hindus. "No authority has bothered to arrest and frame Parveen Bhai Togadia for sedition," the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief said. Badungar said VHP had least respect for the apex court as it has been issuing statements frequently threatening to move ahead with the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya in disregard of the court orders. "This type of statements by the VHP are no less than seditious, besides the contempt of court", he said. On the issue of allowing baptised Sikh women to perform religious service in the sanctum sanctorum, Badungar said it would be discussed soon by the SGPC. Two British women had been allegedly assaulted by committee officials in Golden Temple complex when they tried to perform "sewa" (service) recently.
He also announced creation of a separate Akal Takht secretariat within a month.
He expressed concern over framing of charges against Punjab MP Simranjit Singh Mann in a case of sedition under the lapsed Tada.
