Mumbai, Dec 07: Maharashtra government would soon
appoint an inquiry officer to conduct departmental inquiry
against former Mumbai police commissioner who has been
arrested in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper
scam, official sources said today.
Sharma had failed to file within the stipulated timeframe
his reply to the chargesheet served on him by the government
in pursuance to departmental inquiry ordered against him for
alleged lapses in the fake stamp paper probe, the sources
said.
The chargesheet was served on him on November 25, five days before his retirement and he was asked to reply within 10 days. Instead of filing a reply, admitting or denying the charges, Sharma asked for certain papers from the government. However, his request was turned down, the sources said.
Meanwhile, a jail doctor today examined Sharma in keeping with a judicial directive. Certain tests are being conducted as Sharma was suffering from blood pressure and hyper tension, SIT sources said.
A Pune court had yesterday turned down his request for treatment in a private hospital and directed jail doctor to examine him and file a report.
