Raipur, Apr 16: Dr Renu Jogi, wife of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, arrived here yesterday from Mumbai to take full charge of the election campaign of her husband, who is Congress candidate from Mahasamund and was seriously injured in a road accident in Raipur district on Sunday. Renu, who earlier on Tuesday resigned from her post of associate professor of Opthamology in the Raipur Medical College Hospital, told media persons here that she has resigned from service to discharge her family responsibility.
To a question about her joining politics, she said she is still a government servant and after acceptance of the resignation she will decide what to do. In her resignation letter addressed to the health secretary, Renu said that her husband sustained injuries in an accident because of which she was not being able to continue in government service and her resignation may be accepted to allow her to discharge her family responsibility.
Meanwhile, Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, the spokesman for the former chief minister said, Renu has gone to the famous Rajiv Lochan temple of Rajim to worship and thank all those who had organised a prayer for speedy recovery of her husband from the accident and then she will visit the accident site, located about 135 km from the state capital in the jungle of Gariabandh. In another significant development, former home minister Nand Kumar Patel, took charge as the main campaigner for Jogi to carry out electioneering in Mahasamund in his absence.
"Patel had a closed door meeting with Jogi's son Amit, Trivedi, and Jogi's main election agent Anil Tah to draft a strategy to continue the campaign and then left for Mahasamund to take charge there", Trivedi said, adding Patel will no longer campaign in Raigarh seat, under which his Kharsia assembly segment falls.
Earlier, after arrival from Mumbai, Renu went to the Modern Medical Institute (MMI) and inquired about the health condition of injured PCC general secretary Mehtarlal Sahu and Sabbir, the driver of the jeep, in which Jogi was travelling when the accident occurred.
