Button vows to stay at BAR
London, Feb 16: Jenson Button has pledged to stay at BAR and fight for the title in 2005 rather than move to Williams.
London, Feb 16: Jenson Button has pledged to stay at BAR and fight for the title in 2005 rather than move to Williams.
Button told the Sunday Mirror: "People keep going on about Williams and they are obviously an excellent team.
"They gave me my first F1 chance, but I have had no contact with them and I'm genuinely not looking to leave BAR."
Button said it would mean more to him to win the championship with a team he had helped develop than to step straight into a winning car.
"Of course, the World Championship is my ambition. But I want to do it with a team I have helped build," he said.
"We are building something here, and we hope to be challenging for the title next year. If we do achieve that, it will mean far more to me than if I had walked straight into a team that guaranteed me a winning car."
