Lucknow, Oct 23: Former Uttar Pradesh Minister Nasimmudin Siddaqui, named by the CBI in the fir in the Taj heritage corridor case, today approached the Allahadbad High Court seeking a stay on his arrest. Siddaqui's petition is likely to be taken up by the Lucknow bench of the high court tomorrow.
The High Court had yesterday stayed the arrest of former Chief Minister Mayawati, her Principal Secretary P L Punia and former secretary V K Gupta till conclusion of the investigation in the case. Meanwhile, Former Environment Secretary R K Sharma and NCPL chairman and managing director S C Bali today challenged in the High Court the validity of the fir filed against them in the thc case. A division bench, comprising Justice Khemkaran and Justice G K Gupta, heard arguments on behalf of both the parties.
The arguments would resume tomorrow.
The petitioners while praying to quash the FIR against them in the case also sought stay on their arrest.
