Islamabad, July 01: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, who is currently touring Germany, today said Berlin has agreed to supply spare parts for the radar systems of
Pakistan air force's fighter planes.
Musharraf told Pakistan media at Berlin after his meeting
with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder that the supply of
the spare parts have been stopped after the imposition of
sanctions following nuclear tests by Pakistan in 1998.
Musharraf also invited private investment from Germany in Pakistan saying that Pakistan currently registered highest growth rate in the region.
He also held talks with German foreign minister and other German officials and discussed the India-Pak relations, the new peace process and issues relating to terrorism and Afghanistan.
Musharraf concludes his three-day visit to Germany today. He will travel to France tomorrow on the last leg of his tour.
In view of his failure to get F-16 planes during his meeting with US President George Bush, he was expected to press for French Mirage fighter aircraft, which Pakistan was reportedly willing to buy to modernise its airforce.
France has supplied two of new Agosta submarines and built the third one. Pakistan airforce has also got some old Mirage aircraft.
He would return home after a three-day tour to France, during which he was expected to hold talks with president, Jack Chirrac and others.
