A painstaking 100 by opener and wicket keeper Deep Das Gupta and his 136-run laboured third wicket stand with Rahul Dravid set India for a big lead against England as the hosts finished the second day of the first Test at 262 for three at Mohali Tuesday. With vice captain Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar involved in a 50-run unbeaten fourth wicket partnership, the hosts have already taken a 24-run lead with seven wickets in hand. England had made 238 in their first essay. At stumps, Dravid was batting on 78 (266 minutes, 193 balls, 9x4) and Sachin was unbeaten on 31 (76 minutes, 73 balls, 5x4). In the process Sachin became the ninth Indian batsman to score 1000 runs against England.
