Viraj Bahl, a visionary in India’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, founded Veeba Foods in 2013. Today, the brand is a household name, celebrated for its innovative and high-quality sauces.  

This season, the judge’s panel sees significant changes. Amit Jain (CarDekho), Ronnie Screwvala (upGrad), Deepinder Goyal (Zomato), and Radhika Gupta (Edelweiss Mutual Fund) won’t return. Joining the panel is the newest shark, Viraj Bahl, the founder and managing director of Veeba Foods.  

Viraj’s journey in the food industry began in childhood. Frequent visits to his father’s factory and working at the Fun Foods stall at Aahar Delhi—where he had his first job—shaped his passion for the sector.

 

Determined to meet his father’s expectations, Viraj pursued marine engineering, graduated from Singapore Polytechnic, and secured a lucrative job with a merchant navy company. By 2002, he achieved his goal of earning a monthly salary of Rs 3 lakh, gaining his father’s approval.  

Viraj joined Fun Foods in 2002 and played a vital role in its success. However, in 2008, his father sold the company to Dr. Oetker for Rs 110 crore—a decision Viraj opposed. While the sale was a setback, it ignited his determination to chart his own course. 

In 2009, Viraj launched Pocket Full, a restaurant chain. Despite initial promise, the venture faced financial difficulties and closed by 2013, leaving him at a crossroads.   

Supported by his wife, Viraj Bahl sold their house to fund his next venture. In 2013, he founded Veeba Foods in Neemrana, Rajasthan. The brand quickly gained prominence, transforming the Indian food industry.
