The Nagaland government has banned the sale of all non-branded food items in the state with immediate effect.

State directorate of health services slapped the ban under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954.
Health services director Dr D Kapfo said that several non-branded food items, the consumption of which was likely to cause harm, were widely marketed in the state.
