Railways sign MoUs to launch joint venture companies
New Delhi, Dec 19: Railways have signed MoUs to launch joint venture companies with governments of Karnataka and Maharashtra to undertake suburban transport projects and the process was on to form another such firm with Andhra Pradesh, Lok Sabha was informed today.

While suburban transport projects would be undertaken in Mumbai, four rail projects have been identified in Karnataka and a multi-modal transport system would be set up in Hyderabad, Railway Minister Nitish Kumar said during question hour.
Rail projects were also being undertaken on cost sharing basis with governments of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, he said.
