Jerusalem, Sept 03: Some 10,000 workers and another 1,000 shopkeepers from the Gaza Strip are to be allowed to enter Israel today to return to work, according to military sources. Israel had barred access for all Palestinians from Gaza in the aftermath of the August 19 suicide bus bomb in Jerusalem which killed 21 passengers. The workers had received clearance to return only weeks earlier amid a general calm that prevailed as a result of a now-shattered truce. Some 30,000 Palestinians were legally employed in Israel before the start of the intifada three years ago. The decision to allow the workers to return was made as a result of the "situation on the ground", a military official told a news agency but warned that it could be reversed if more rockets are fired from Gaza towards Israel.
