Pakistan on Tuesday said the blast on the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in Srinagar claiming 38 lives could have been caused by renegade elements and dismissed India's assertion of Islamabad's involvement in the incident as baseless.
“India has been making such allegations in the past and pointing finger at Pakistan. Evidence suggests most of such acts are perpetrated by renegade elements. India did not conduct impartial investigations into earlier acts whenever major attacks have taken place on civilians in several places,” Pakistan foreign office spokesman Riaz Mohammad Khan told reporters.
“These are accusations. They have no basis... I do not have any comment to offer. We refute all allegations as in the past,” he said.
“Pakistan unequivocally condemns the attack in Srinagar and believes that it was aimed at weakening the freedom struggle of Kashmiris,” he said. “You may have noted our statement. We have condemned this act of terrorism in unequivocal terms. We said this is condonable. It appears to be aimed at maligning, to undermine the freedom struggle of Kashmiris.”
