Indore, Mar 17: Senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Acharya Dharmendra has been remanded to judicial custody till March 28. He was shifted to Ujjain jail from here. Acharya Dharmendra was arrested yesterday in Ujjain Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh on charges of making an inflammatory speech at Dewas.
The Acharya, who has been touring the area, had addressed a meeting in Dewas -- where he allegedly made the provocative speech. He was arrested under Section 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code in connection with a case registered against him by the Dewas police, Ujjain Superintendent of Police Upendra Jain told a news agency.
Police said Dharmendra had addressed a dharam sabha at Dewas yesterday in the evening where he referred to the Ram Temple and cow slaughter issues and allegedly made objectionable remarks against a certain community.
