New Delhi, May 15: Victory may not always bring cheer and defeat may not always bring gloom. A perfect case in point is that of the contestants in South Delhi constituency - Vijay Kumar Malhotra of BJP and Congress' R K Anand. While there were no celebrations for Malhotra, the lone BJP candidate to win in Delhi, Anand was upbeat, taking the defeat in his stride. Malhotra kept a low profile, meeting party leaders to analyse the causes of the debacle, while Anand expressed happiness that the Congress was poised to form a government at the Centre. "I am not happy. There were no celebrations for me this time," Malhotra, a former Union Minister said. He said the rout suffered by the BJP-led NDA was "totally unexpected" and the results needed to be analysed. On the other hand, Anand, who interestingly is a distant cousin of Malhotra, was a relaxed man. "It is practically my victory. I have improved Congress' performance in this BJP stronghold," the lawyer-turned- politician said. Anand, a Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, said there was "a lot" for him to be happy about. "Our ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has done well in the elections and what is more my party is coming to power at the Centre," he said. Looking back at his election campaign, Anand said "I can write a book about my experiences....It will be a fantastic book."
