Rajkot, Oct 08: Seventeen persons, including two officials of the fire-brigade were hospitalised last night after they complained of suffocation caused by leakage of chlorine gas from the water tank valve. The incident took place after chlorine gas leaked from the valve, when a fire-brigade staffer was releasing the gas for purification of water at the water depot on ring road area here around midnight, fire brigade sources said. The sources said that about one km area surrounding the tank was cordoned off immediately. The affected persons admitted to the H K Doshi Hospital were stated to be normal and out of danger.
