Chennai, Feb 19: BJP today said it was in favour of opening of Bhojshala-Kamal Maula mosque premises in Madhya Pradesh for prayers by Muslims and Hindus. "We disapprove of any violence to enter the locked place of worship. But we are in favour of opening it for namaz by Muslims and poojas by the Hindus", BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu told a press conference here today. He said by police action against the protesters, who were demanding the opening of the locked place of worship, the Madhya Pradesh government had precipitated the matter. On Ayodhya issue, he said there was no need for any discussion in Parliament on the issue as the government had stated that it would go by the Supreme Court`s judgement.
He said NDA government at the Centre had filed a petition in the Supreme Court for expediting the case as per an all party meeting decision, which wanted the case to be disposed of quickly. The Congress, which was a party to the decision then, was now talking in a different tone, exposing its double stand on the issue, he said.
