Srinagar, May 19: Militants attacked a taxi transporting cash to a bank and looted Rs 50 lakh and some arms in Pulwama district in south Kashmir today, official sources said. The ultras hijacked the vehicle at Baskushan crossing in Shopian and escaped with the booty and the service weapons of two police guards accompanying the bank employees, they said. However all the five persons including the police guards, driver and the bank employees were left unharmed by the militants. A hunt has been launched to nab the militants involved in the day-light robbery, the sources said.
The incident comes close on the heels of an unsuccessful bid by militants to loot a bank in Shopian town last week which left two policemen dead and two militants injured. Bureau Report
