Bangalore, Mar 29: The Karnataka Legislative Council today referred the breach of privilege motion moved by opposition BJP against B Kishna Bhat and others to the privileges committee. Pronouncing ruling on the motion, council chairman B L Shankar said that he was convinced that prima facie there was a clear case of breach of privilege of members and also that of the house in Bhat's filing a PIL on the alleged foreign jaunt by legislators and he was referring it to the privileges committee. Shankar said that the PIL was filed only on the basis of media reports.
Opposition BJP leader D H Shankaramurthy and others had sought to move the motion alleging that the PIL had painted legislators in poor light in the eyes of the public.
The Karnataka High Court has dismissed the petition slapping a Rs 5,000 fine on Bhat.
