Dhaka, Jan 26: Lawmakers in Parliament have been told a banned book by exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen is being sold openly in the capital Dhaka, a report said today. Member of Parliament Sarder Shakhawat Hossain Bakul told parliament yesterday that bootlegged copies of Nasreen's third auto-biographical book "Ka" were available all over the city, the daily Ittefaq reported.
The book describes in lurid detail her alleged affairs with a number of prominent Bangladeshi figures, many of whom have denied the accuracy of her accounts.

Amid laughter, Home Minister Altaf Hossian Chowdhury questioned the reason for the MP's concern, joking that perhaps he feared he was going to be in Nasreen's next book, the report said.
After Bakul objected to the comment, the minister pledged immediate measures to halt the illegal sale of the book.

Nasreen, a doctor turned writer, fled Bangladesh in 1994 following death threats prompted by her first banned book entitled "Lajja" or "Shame"
