Jammu, Nov 18: The 300-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed since last night due to landslides following snowfall and heavy rains in the state, official sources said here today.
Landslides triggered at kilometre 175 by overnight rains and snowfall disrupted vehicular traffic, the sources said adding that 75 centimetres of snow had accumulated on the 10 km-long stretch between kilometre 210 and kilometre 220.
It was still raining and snowing at different places along the arterial road when reports last came in, the sources said adding however, border roads organisation was pressed into service for the clearance operation and the road was expected to be traffic-worthy by this afternoon, they said.
