A Challenging Start in Life
Born into a struggling family of five, Jyothi’s life changed at 8 when her father sent her to an orphanage. Despite the hardships, she attended a government school and dreamed of a brighter future.
Married at 16, a Mother by 18
At 16, Jyothi was married off and soon became a mother to two daughters. Facing severe financial struggles, she worked as a daily laborer in farm fields, earning just Rs 5 a day.
Taking Small Steps Toward Education
In 1994, Jyothi earned a BA degree, followed by a postgraduate degree in 1997. Although her qualifications allowed her to teach, her salary was only Rs 398 per month. To make ends meet, she also worked as a tailor at night.
Eyeing Opportunities Abroad
A visit from a relative working in the U.S. inspired Jyothi to explore opportunities overseas. She took computer courses, moved to the U.S., and initially worked odd jobs, including at a petrol station and babysitting.
Building Her Empire
In 2001, with $40,000 in savings, Jyothi founded Key Software Solutions. What started small grew into a business with a $15 million turnover and eventually a billion-dollar enterprise by 2017.
