New Delhi, July 12: BJP President Venkaiah Naidu today joined issue with Congress spokesperson Jaipal Reddy on his demand that Prime Minister A B Vajpayee should appear before the Liberhan Commission of inquiry probing the Ayodhya demolition case saying his comments amounted to undue interference in the commission's working. The demand is not only "ridiculous" but also amounts to undue interference in the working of a commission set up under the Commission of Enquiry Act, 1952, Naidu said inaugurating the first meeting of state presidents and general secretaries of BJP's legal cell here, a party statement said here. The application seeking to summon the Prime Minister is pending before the commission and is fixed for arguments on July 21. Therefore any verdict or opinion about the final order is totally uncalled for and smacks of political motives, the statement said quoting Naidu. Lauding Vajpayee's leadership, the BJP president said the nation is fortunate to have him as the prime minister.
Naidu, the statement added, said the Prime Minister of the country should be a person who is our national, acceptable to the whole nation, have the a capacity, vision and experience to lead the whole nation and is a perfect statesman.
