Howrah (WB), Sept 12: Union Consumer Affairs, food and Public Distribution Minister and Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav today said there was `no democracy` in West Bengal and that all NDA partners should unitedly fight the Left Front government in the state.
Howrah (WB), Sept 12: Union Consumer Affairs, food and Public Distribution Minister and Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav today said there was "no democracy" in West Bengal and that all NDA partners should unitedly fight the Left Front government in the state.
"People of Bengal fought with the British for freedom and now they have to fight the Marxists to get back democracy," he said addressing the party's state council meeting here.
Yadav, pointing out that 22,000 people were not allowed to contest the last panchayat elections in the state, said that he would discuss the issue with other NDA partners.
JD-U state president Amitabha Dutta submitted a memorandum to Yadav on the law and order situation in the state.
The meeting was attended by state BJP president Tathagata Roy, Howrah district Trinamool Congress president Arup Roy and JD(U) national general secretary Arun Srivastava.
