Mumbai, Aug 26: The Shiv Sena-BJP Opposition leaders in Maharashtra today met Governor Mohd Fazal and presented a memorandum urging him to dissolve the Democratic Front government and impose president's rule in the wake of the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state. "Maharashtra government should be dissolved under Article 356 for the failure in law and order," a delegation comprising leader of the opposition in the state Assembly Narayan Rane (Shiv Sena), leader of opposition in the legislative council Nitin Gadkari (BJP) among others, told the Governor.
The Governor assured the delegation that he would speak to the Centre about the present situation in the state.
"When the terrorist attacked New York, American President George Bush said it was an attack on America. On the same lines, the government should also announce it as an Islamic attack on Maharashtra," the delegation told Fazal.
