Chennai, Sept 21: Senior AIADMK leader and Tamil Nadu finance minister C Ponnaiyan today hit out at both DMK and the Congress for boycotting and walking out of the all-party meet yesterday. In a statement here, he said congress leaders E V K Elangovan and S R Balasubramoniam should have attended the meeting and then tried for the 'removal' of the draft resolution (which sought dismissal of the Krishna government) during the debate. Instead, they chose to walk-out at the 'incipient stage', which deserved 'severe condemnation'.
'The decision to stage a walk-out was irresponsible and pre-planned' and was in support of Karnataka government which was doing 'great injustice' to Tamil Nadu by not releasing Cauvery water. 'the walkout is unpardonable'.
The DMK too had failed to 'discharge' its duties to the people by boycotting the all-party meet, he said.

Ponnaiyan also had a dig at the PMK and accused it of adopting 'double standards'. While party president G K Mani demanded action against Karnataka under art.355 in the all-party meet, its founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss, in a separate statement, had sought action Under Art.356.
'This shows they are least interested in Cauvery issue and are airing views only for political gains'.
