Chennai, July 22: Madras High Court today reserved its orders on an application for bail filed by M K Azhagiri, son of DMK president M Karunanidhi, who was arrested in connection with the murder of former Tamil Nadu minister T Kiruttinan in May last. Justice V Kanakaraj reserved his orders after hearing arguments on the application by the petitioner and the prosecution, which opposed grant of bail.

In his bail application, Azhagiri, who was arrested on May 21, a day after Kiruttinan's murder in Madurai, alleged that he had been "falsely implicated in the murder for political reasons."

He alleged that other accused were coerced by the police into give false statements implicating him in the murder. The statements were retracted by the accused before a Madurai court, he added.
Azhagiri had been charged by the police with hatching a conspiracy to murder Kiruttinan following intra-party feud during the organisational elections.
