Lucknow, Sep 01: BSP National Vice President Mayawati has appointed former Uttar Pradesh Speaker Barkhu Ram Verma as the state president of the party replacing K K Sachan, party sources said today. Mayawati, who had convened a meeting of party legislators and coordinators yesterday, also dissolved the state committee, the sources said. Verma, who was earlier expelled by Mayawati, had returned to the party fold recently . Mayawati appointed former minister Swami Prasad Maurya as the leader of legislature party in her place and appointed Jagdish Narayan Lal as the deputy leader and Indrajit Saroj as chief whip in the assembly.
Party sources said more than 20 MLAs were not present during yesterday's meeting.
