New Delhi, Aug 04: Identifying an ambitious role for information, communication technology (ICT) industry in India's mission to transform itself into a developed nation, global consultant pa consultant group has asked the industry to "look into future" at convergence of Internet, wireline and wireless phones, and entertainment. "The industry should try and look into the future where the convergence of internet, wireline phone and wireless phone, entertainment and media takes place," it said in a presentation submitted to the chairman of telecom commission recently.
The presentation "Mission 2020: Information and Communication Technology in India" has asked policy makers, regulators and industry to work together to address issues such as investment outlays, market related interventions (convergence) and regulatory facilitation.
"The long term future for telecom operators 10 years ago was relatively clear; today it is much more complicated," it said.
"The key to unlocking future growth is to move to a complete communication solutions covering all environments through which the users pass on a typical day. It involves voice, data, the office, home, car and wide-area, multiple technologies and many possible services," it pointed out. Bureau Report
