Nagpur, June 21: Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has issued a notice to Maharashtra chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who also holds the co-operation portfolio, for holding results of a local co-operative housing society.
Justice J N Patel, while issuing notices here yesterday to respondents including Shinde, the commissioner of co-operation, Joint Divisional Registrar (JDR) cooperative societies of Nagpur and Amravati division, directed them to show cause within two weeks.
Petitioner contended that due to internal dispute and factionalism, opponent group approached appellate co-operative court which directed holding of polls last month.
Apprehending rigging of polls and other illegal procedure, the respondent Pradip Nimje went to deputy registrar, however his appeal was rejected. At this juncture, instead of filing a revision petition before the JDR, the respondent approached Shinde.
Shinde personally heard the revision petition on May 14 and directed the concerned authorities not to declare results of polls unless the revision pending before JDR was decided.
