Pondicherry, Jan 28: Pondicherry Education Minister K Lakshminarayanan and Local Administration Minister A Ezhumalai, known supporters of former minister P Kannan, today resigned from the Rangasamy cabinet. Addressing a joint press conference here, the two said they had submitted their resignation letters at the Chief Minister's office. The reason for their resignation would be announced tomorrow, they added.

Kannan had recently quit the congress and was yet to announce his future course of action. It may be noted that Lakshminarayanan and Ezhumalai besides government whip P Rajavelu and slum clearance board chairman R Radhakrishnan were elected to the territorial assembly on the Puducherry Makkal Congress (PMC) ticket. However, the PMC, floated by Kannan, later merged with the Congress.
