Security forces gunned down six militants, including two Pakistani infiltrators and busted a hide-out in the Kashmir Valley overnight.
A defence ministry spokesman said troops guarding the Line of Actual Control in the northern sector noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side early on Wednesday. He said when challenged, the infiltrators opened fire with automatic weapons and hurled grenades on security forces.
The fire was returned and the exchange was going on till late on Wednesday night, he said and added bodies of two unidentified infiltrators were recovered so far.
He said in yet another fierce clash at Baj Pathar near Bandipora in the Baramulla district, security forces killed three militants when they tried to break the cordon during search operations. Large cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered from the slain militants. Another militant of Pakistan-based Jaish-E-Mohammad was killed by security forces in Brijthor Forest in the frontier district of Kupwara. One hide-out was also busted and one AK rifle, three magzines, 437 rounds, ten grenades and one wireless set were recovered.
