Itanagar, July 26: Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Tadak Dulom died today following a lung infection, family sources said.

Dulom, one of the longest serving ministers of the state died this morning while he was being shifted to Dibrugarh Medical College from Ramakrishna Mission Hospital here, by helicopter. Dulom is survived by wife Yari Dulom, who is president of Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress, two daughters and a son.

Born in February 1947, Dulom was elected to the first legislative assembly in 1978 from Daporij constituency. All along he had been a minister in Gegong Apang and Mukut Mithi ministries. As soon as the news of Dulom's death spread chief minister, Mukut Mithi his cabinet colleagues and people from all walks of life rushed to his residence to pay tributes to the departed soul.

The state government has declared holiday today as a mark of respect to the late leader.

Dulom's body will be flown to his native place Daporijo for last rites. Bureau Report
